Giovanni Bellini
A 1900 monograph on the Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini (d. 1516), issued in Boston by Bates and Guild for art students, collectors and readers of the period's painter biographies. Eleven halftone plates reproduce altarpieces and devotional panels: enthroned Madonnas set in painted apses with garlanded half-domes, pilasters and inlaid pavements, plus tight crops of heads and Pietà groups useful for drapery folds, architectural ornament and grave frontal faces.
