The girl's own book
A collection of games, riddles, needlework and parlour amusements for girls, written by Lydia Maria Child and issued in New York by Clark, Austin & Co. in 1833. The wood engravings show children in high-waisted Empire dresses playing blindman's buff and ring games, reading under trees, and working at crafts, with diagram cuts of knots, stitches and game layouts useful as small spot illustrations or instructional marks.
