A glossary of terms used in Grecian, Roman, Italian, and Gothic architecture
An illustrated glossary of architectural terms covering Grecian, Roman, Italian and Gothic building, compiled and published by John Henry Parker at Oxford in 1845 for antiquarians, architects and students of medieval churches. The plates are line engravings of isolated parts — clustered piers, buttresses and pinnacles, carved capitals, arcades and window tracery — drawn in elevation with close hatching for stone courses and moulding shadows, giving designers clean cut-out architectural components and repeatable ornament profiles.
