Gènes
A volume on Genoa by Jean de Foville, published in Paris by Laurens in 1907 as part of a French series of illustrated art-topographies aimed at travellers and students of Italian art. The plates are halftone photographs of Genoese churches and palaces: marble altar screens crowded with figure sculpture, vaulted vestibules and staircases, coffered and frescoed ceilings, and painted panels in shaped frames, useful for coarse-grain tonal textures, ornamental cartouches, and architectural framing devices.
