Godey's lady's book
Godey's Lady's Book was a monthly American women's magazine issued by Louis A. Godey in Philadelphia from 1830, carrying fiction, fashion plates, needlework and penmanship lessons for middle-class readers; these pages come from the 1840 volume. The plates show outline capitals built from flourished acanthus leaves, feather plumes, dot-centered curls and open scrolls, drawn in thin unshaded line suitable for tracing, enlarging or vectoring as monograms and drop caps.
