The golden bough : a study in magic and religion. Part 6, The scapegoat
Volume six of James George Frazer's comparative study of magic and religion, *The Scapegoat*, issued by Macmillan in London in 1925 for scholarly and general readers. The plates run to two: an engraved armorial bookplate with mantling, helm, lion charges and a LIBERTAS ribbon, and a halftone frontispiece after Turner's painting *The Golden Bough*, a misty lake landscape with feathery trees and robed figures — useful for heraldic ornament and soft tonal scenery.
