The golden bough : a study in magic and religion
James George Frazer's comparative study of myth, magic and religion, issued by Macmillan in London in 1911 for scholars and educated general readers; the scanned Toronto copy carries a previous owner's bookplate. The one plate indexed here is that ex libris: a black-line block print of a reader slumped in a wing chair beside a hearth and crowded shelves, framed by a dotted border with banner panels for "Ex Libris" and the name "W. E. Kelley" — usable as a model for name plates, hand-lettered banners and solid-black silhouette interiors.
