Goodwood; its house, park and grounds, with a catalogue raisonné of the pictures in the gallery of His Grace the Duke of Richmond, K.G. To which are added an account of the ancient encampment, tumuli, and British village, on the adjacent downs: and a detailed record of the Goodwood races from their first establishment..
William Hayley Mason's 1839 guide to Goodwood, published in London by Smith, Elder, describes the Duke of Richmond's house, park and picture gallery, with chapters on nearby earthworks and the racecourse for visitors and antiquarians. Engravings pair elevations and garden views of the house with diagrams of barrows in section and plan, showing urns, cists and skeletons beneath hatched mounds.
