Gothic ornaments in the cathedral church of York
A plate book of measured architectural details drawn and etched by Joseph Halfpenny, published in York in 1795 for antiquaries, masons and architects copying the carving of York Minster. The etchings isolate capitals, mouldings, crockets and arcade bays in tonal line, shown from below at steep angles — useful for foliate capital motifs, repeating band ornament and carved heads.
