The Goupil gallery of photogravures from great modern painters, with biographical and descriptive text
An 1888 Boston art folio from Estes and Lauriat, with text by Clara Erskine Clement Waters, presenting Goupil photogravures after nineteenth-century painters alongside biographies for American collectors and picture-buyers. Beyond the plates, the letterpress carries wood-engraved chapter headpieces built from interlaced strapwork and ivy scrolls, plus heavy blackletter initials wrapped in flowering vines, all in solid black line suited to scaling and vectoring.
