A Spanish emblem book by the Dominican Andrés Ferrer de Valdecebro, printed at Barcelona in 1696, drawing moral and political lessons from wild beasts for preachers and readers seeking sermon material. Small woodcuts set a single animal in profile on a hatched mound, modelled in dense parallel lines, with sparse tufts of grass, clouds, and show-through type from the page behind.
