Owen Jones's survey of decorative styles, issued in London by Day and Son in 1865 for architects, manufacturers and design students. Plates group flat pattern by culture — Moresque tracery, Roman foliate capitals, Indian and Persian repeats — printed in chromolithographic flat colour or fine line engraving, each motif isolated on the page and numbered, ready for direct reuse as borders, tiles and repeating fields.
