Grantees of arms named in docquets and patents to the end of the seventeenth century : in the manuscripts preserved in the British museum, the Bodleian Library, Oxford, Queen's College, Oxford, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and elsewhere : alphabetically arranged by the late Joseph Foster and contained in the Additional ms. no. 37,147, in the British museum
An alphabetical reference list of grants of arms recorded in English manuscript docquets and patents to 1700, compiled by genealogist Joseph Foster and edited by W. Harry Rylands for antiquarians and heralds, printed in London in 1915. The single plate is a circular line-engraved device: a crowned shield with a motto scroll reading Virtute et Fide, flanked by horn-like crests, ringed by a lettered band, usable as a seal, roundel badge or monogram frame.
