The graphic arts; modern men and modern methods
Lectures on etching, lithography and book illustration by the American illustrator Joseph Pennell, printed in 1921 for the Art Institute of Chicago by the University of Chicago Press for students and print collectors. The 153 plates reproduce work by Whistler, Daumier, Pennell and contemporaries: smudged lithographic crayon figures, seated and standing single portraits, crowd groups, and pen-line architectural views with open unfinished edges.
