Gravures
An unpaged album of French wood-engraved plates after J. J. Grandville and Auguste Raffet, assembled around 1880 from their book and periodical work for collectors of nineteenth-century French illustration. Scenes mix everyday drama — sickbeds, studios, village doorways, top-hatted gentlemen — with Grandville's animal-headed figures in frock coats, all drawn in fine hatched line suited to clean reproduction and cut-out figures.
