Great Benin; its customs, art and horrors
Henry Ling Roth's 1903 ethnographic survey of Benin City and its plundered court art, published at Halifax for British collectors, museum curators and anthropologists after the 1897 punitive expedition. Line drawings and halftones record cast bronze plaques and heads, carved ivory tusks, wooden figures and incised staffs, supplying dense relief pattern, figure panels and object silhouettes for pattern work and reference.
