Greek art and national life
A 1913 survey of Greek sculpture and its social setting, written by S. C. Kaines Smith and published in London by James Nisbet for students and general readers of classical antiquity. The 33 plates are halftone photographs of marbles and bronzes against plain dark or pale grounds — winged Nike relief fragments, tilted heads lit from the side, and gridded sheets of archaic kouroi and korai — useful for cut-out figures, drapery patterns, and grainy monochrome texture.
