Les beaux arts reduits à un même principe
Charles Batteux's treatise on aesthetics, arguing that poetry, painting and music share one principle of imitating nature, published in Paris by Durand in 1746 for learned readers. Charles Eisen designed the plates, etched by Delafosse and Sornique: small rococo vignettes of muses, putti and writers at work among swagged curtains, stone blocks and trees, with loose open etched line and scattered attributes.
