A French guidebook of notes on paintings and sculpture in the principal cities of Italy, written by the engraver Charles-Nicolas Cochin and printed in Paris by Charles-Antoine Jombert in 1758 for travellers and art collectors. The images indexed here are not plates but the binding's marbled endpapers and blank leaves: combed and swirled snail patterns in brick red, ochre, slate blue and cream, useful as tiling textures, endpaper backgrounds, or aged laid-paper surfaces.
