Chinese pottery and porcelain: an account of the potter's art in China from primitive times to the present day...forty plates in colour and ninety-six in black and white
R. L. Hobson's two-volume survey of Chinese ceramics from neolithic wares to the Qing, published by Cassell in London in 1915 for collectors, curators and the antiquities trade. Halftone plates photograph single vessels against dark grounds, showing incised and carved floral scrolls, lobed and pear-shaped silhouettes, loop handles and glaze crackle usable as outline shapes or surface pattern.
