Ancient pagan and modern Christian symbolism
Thomas Inman's comparative study of religious symbols, first issued in the 1860s and reprinted in New York by Peter Eckler in 1922 for readers of freethought and antiquarian literature. The 93 line drawings copy Mesopotamian cylinder seals, Egyptian ankhs and staves, coins and carved heads, reduced to flat outline with hatched fill—usable as clean emblem stock and diagrammatic figures.
