The use and abuse of colours and mediums in oil painting : a handbook for artists and art students
A handbook on oil-painting pigments and mediums by H. C. Standage, published in London in 1892 by the colour manufacturer Reeves & Sons for working artists and art students. The wood-engraved plates are trade illustrations of the firm's goods: fitted paint boxes with rows of tubes, palettes and brush handles, and brush heads ranged by shape and size beside priced size tables, useful as clean line-engraved object silhouettes and as models for catalogue-style labelled arrays.
