The landscape and pastoral painters of Holland : Ruisdael, Hobbema, Cuijp, Potter
Frank Cundall's 1891 survey of four Dutch seventeenth-century landscape and animal painters — Ruisdael, Hobbema, Cuyp, Potter — issued in London by Sampson Low for art students and collectors. The 34 plates are halftone reproductions of paintings: cattle at watering places, avenues of ragged trees, ruined castles, river towns under tall cloud, all soft-edged with heavy tonal contrast usable as backgrounds and textures.
