The chemistry of paints and painting
A chemist's handbook on pigments, media, grounds and varnishes, written by Arthur Herbert Church and published by Seeley & Co. in London in 1901 for painters, students and restorers. The scanned pages are largely blank stock, with the usable image a circular printer's device in Art Nouveau line engraving: a standing nude flanked by winged, scrolling forms and lettering set around the rim, useful as a roundel, monogram frame or seal motif.
