Die baukunst Frankreichs
A folio survey of French architecture by the German art historian Cornelius Gurlitt, issued in Dresden in 1896 for architects, students and historians. Full-page photogravure plates in sepia and grey show Gothic nave interiors and rib vaults, carved choir screens, Renaissance palace and hôtel facades, and street-level views with small figures for scale, supplying ready tonal backgrounds, ornament details and architectural silhouettes.
