Storia della pittura in Italia dal secolo II al secolo XVI
An Italian edition of Crowe and Cavalcaselle's survey of Italian painting from the second to the sixteenth century, issued in Florence by Le Monnier in 1883 for art historians, collectors and students. The plates are outline engravings after frescoes and panel paintings, reducing crowded Renaissance compositions such as Raphael's Vatican scenes to pure contour line, useful for figure groups, architectural perspective settings and drapery studies stripped of tone.
