Arts and crafts essays
A collection of essays by members of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society, with a preface by William Morris, published in New York by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1893 for craftworkers and designers. The plates are plain line diagrams of embroidery and knotting technique — needle and thread pulled through cloth, satin and buttonhole filling, whipped cord, dotted lines marking the design beneath — usable as instructional marks, thread motifs, or spare linear ornament.
