A description of Fonthill Abbey, Wiltshire : illustrated by views, drawn and engraved
A short topographical account of William Beckford's Gothic Revival house at Fonthill, Wiltshire, written and illustrated by the engraver James Storer and issued by a consortium of London booksellers in 1812 for antiquarian and architectural readers. The plates are small line-and-stipple engravings of the abbey seen from the park and close up: pinnacled towers and octagon against banked clouds, pointed windows in ranks, and dark massed woodland framing distant silhouettes, useful for engraved skies, tonal tree masses, and Gothic architectural profiles.
