A hand-book for young painters
A handbook of instruction on painting by the Royal Academician Charles Robert Leslie, published by John Murray in London in 1855 for art students and young practitioners. The plates are reproductive wood engravings and outline etchings by Harriet Ludlow Clarke, Samuel Williams and J. D. Cooper after old master and contemporary pictures, showing crowded figure groups, processions and interiors inside ruled rectangular borders with engraved captions beneath; useful for line-drawn crowd compositions and plate framing.
