Élite des monuments céramographiques; matériaux pour l'histoire des religions et des moeurs de l'antiquité;
A four-volume French archaeological survey of painted Greek and Etruscan vases, compiled by Charles Lenormant and Jean de Witte and published in Paris from 1844 by Leleux, addressed to scholars of ancient religion and custom. The plates redraw vase scenes as flat orange-buff figures on solid black grounds, isolated without setting: warriors with spears and round shields, chariots, draped women, satyrs, dogs, and scattered vessels and rosettes, with numbered plate labels and clean silhouette outlines usable as stencils or two-colour motifs.
