A German survey of national tastes in interior decoration and architecture, written by Joseph Friedrich Freiherr zu Racknitz with designs by Christian Friedrich Schuricht and engravings by Philipp Veith and Johann Adolph Darnstedt, published at Leipzig in 1796 for architects, decorators and cultivated collectors. The plates are fine outline-and-stipple engravings of small garden buildings and gateways set in trimmed landscape, with domes, arcaded facades and dense surface ornament; useful for pavilion silhouettes, patterned wall panels and the marbled endpaper included here.
