A Florentine catalogue of the self-portraits of painters held in the Uffizi, engraved and published by Francesco Moücke in 1752 for collectors, connoisseurs and visitors to the grand-ducal gallery. Alongside the plates of painters in hats, ruffs and cloaks are letterpress ornaments: historiated initials with seated allegorical women holding cornucopias and sickles, a lion at rest, and scrolled cartouches flanked by winged half-figures, all in fine engraved hatching that reduces well to line.
