A two-volume history of Tuscan painting by the Florentine priest and antiquarian Marco Lastri, issued in Florence by Niccolò Pagni and Giuseppe Bardi in 1791 for collectors and connoisseurs, reproducing works from the tenth century to the eighteenth in engravings after frescoes and altarpieces. The plates are soft-toned line and stipple engravings of crowded figure groups in tiled halls and colonnades, each set in a ruled border with an engraved script caption below, useful for early Italian drapery, saints' groups, haloed heads, and perspectival architectural backdrops.
