A four-volume French scholarly catalogue of painted Greek and Etruscan vases, compiled by Charles Lenormant and Jean de Witte and issued in Paris by Leleux from 1844 for antiquarians and students of ancient religion and myth. The plates redraw vase scenes as flat ochre and white figures on solid black grounds, with gods, winged Erotes, draped women, chariots and serpents framed by meander borders, palmettes, rosettes and dotted lines that can be lifted as silhouettes, borders or spot ornaments.
