Le gemme antiche figurate
A catalogue of ancient engraved gems and cameos compiled by the French antiquary Michel-Ange de la Chausse and printed in Rome in 1700 for collectors and scholars of classical antiquity. Each plate sets a single intaglio subject—gods, heroes, winged figures, animals—inside an oval or round line frame with rosettes, captioned with the stone; useful as compact emblems, medallion motifs and framing devices.
