A costume history by the antiquary Joseph Strutt, engraved and published in London in 1796 for collectors and students of English antiquities, tracing dress from the Saxon settlement onward. The plates copy figures from illuminated manuscripts, tomb effigies and seals: outline engravings of standing and seated figures in framed panels and roundels, useful for period garment shapes, headwear and heraldic detail.
