Traité de mécanique céleste
Laplace's multi-volume treatise on celestial mechanics, covering planetary motion, tides and capillarity, printed by Charles Crapelet in Paris from 1798 for Duprat and Courcier and addressed to mathematicians and astronomers. The scanned pages are mostly blank leaves, a plain calf cover with gilt fillet borders, and letterpress title pages seen in reverse through the paper, offering binding textures, foxed cream paper grounds and faint ghosted type for backgrounds and overlays.
