Ottavio Rossi's history of Brescia and its Roman inscriptions, reissued in 1693 by Domenico Gromi with engravings by Isabella Piccini and Giovanni Antonio Lazzari, for antiquarians and local patrons. The plates here are woodcut typographic ornament: grotesque masks in strapwork, tasselled headpieces, foliate tailpieces and inhabited initials, all coarse black line on laid paper, usable as borders, dividers and drop caps.
