The baronial and ecclesiastical antiquities of Scotland
A four-volume survey of Scottish castles, abbeys and parish churches drawn by the architect Robert William Billings and issued by him in London in 1852 for antiquarians, architects and builders. The plates are steel engravings in fine grey line: masonry walls, arched gateways, window tracery, ruined nave interiors and crow-stepped gables, set in wooded grounds with small figures for scale and broad tonal skies, useful for stonework texture, Gothic detail and silhouetted ruin profiles.
