The plates mix engraved portraiture set in draped, sculptural cartouches with older woodcut headpieces and tailpieces: scrolling acanthus, flaming torches, winged putti, haloed figures with lyres, and a framed ornamental band with a plinth and pendant, all usable as rules, frames, and chapter openers.
