A two-part Latin commentary by the Neapolitan canon and epigrapher Alessio Simmaco Mazzocchi on the bronze Heraclean tablets in the royal Herculaneum museum, printed at Naples in 1754 by Benedetto Gessari for antiquarians and scholars of Greek and Latin inscriptions. The plates in the index are typographic head- and tailpieces: symmetrical rococo strapwork frames with acanthus scrolls, hanging tassels, flower baskets, a laureate profile in an oval medallion, and piles of books and drawing instruments, usable as ornaments, borders and small vignettes.
