Astronomie
Joseph Jérôme Lalande's Astronomie, a multi-volume French treatise on planetary motion, tides and constellations, issued in Paris by the widow Desaint and printed by Pierre Didot in 1792 for astronomers and students. The engraved plates pack dozens of numbered line diagrams per sheet: lettered ellipses, orbital circles, triangulation surveys and shaded planetary disks, useful as fine-line geometric ornament or grid-like page fill.
