Colour in woven design
A technical manual on colour and pattern in cloth by Roberts Beaumont, a Yorkshire College textile lecturer, published in London by Whittaker & Co. in 1890 for mill designers, weavers and students. Plates mix black-and-white point-paper weave diagrams and zigzag twill grids with colour swatches of tartan checks, printed paisley and stepped motifs on squared ground, giving designers ready repeat units, graph-based geometry and period dyed colour pairings.
