Beschreibung einer ungemein grossen Elektrisier-Maschine : und der damit im Teylerschen Museum zu Haarlem angestelten Versuche
Martinus van Marum's account of the giant electrostatic generator built for Teyler's Museum in Haarlem and the experiments run on it, issued in German at Leipzig in 1786 for natural philosophers and instrument makers. The plates are hand-coloured engravings recording discharge traces of exploded metal wires, labelled Gold, Messing, Eisen and Kupfer, each a symmetrical spike or plume of brown, pink and olive against cream, plus sheets of dotted spark tracks curving across the page; usable as abstract mark-making, spectral bands and scientific plate layout.
