Versuch eines Farbensystems
A color-theory treatise by the Viennese entomologist Ignaz Schiffermüller, published in Vienna in 1772 by Augustin Bernardi with plates engraved by Ferdinand Landerer, addressed to naturalists, dyers and painters. The plates pair a hand-colored twelve-part color circle with rococo cartouche borders framing small etched scenes of dyeing, cloth drying, fountains and putti at work, usable as ornamental frames, vignette headpieces and an early color wheel diagram.
