A nomenclature of colours, applicable to the arts and natural sciences, to manufactures and other purposes of general utility
A colour-naming system published by Edinburgh decorative painter David Ramsay Hay in 1846, aimed at artists, manufacturers, and naturalists who needed shared terms for tints and shades. The 39 plates are hand-coloured triangles, numbered and set within ruled frames, grouped as muted olives, greys, browns, plums, and greens — usable as period palettes or as geometric colour-chart layouts.
