A four-volume technical treatise on textile printing and dyeing by the French chemist Jean Persoz, issued in Paris and Leipzig in 1846 for manufacturers, colourists and chemistry students. The plates are engraved machine drawings in elevation and section, showing printing cylinders, gear trains, belt drives, rollers and frames in thin outline with flat grey wash, useful for line-based diagram motifs, circular and geometric mechanical forms, and pale monochrome technical ornament.
