Silk dyeing, printing, and finishing
A technical manual on silk dyeing, printing, and finishing by George H. Hurst, published by George Bell & Sons in London and New York in 1892 for dyers, textile chemists, and mill practitioners. The plates are circular microscope fields showing crossed and overlapping fibre bundles drawn as dense parallel hatching, plus occasional clusters of round cells, giving designers ready-made roundel motifs, woven line textures, and diagrammatic strand crossings.
