Wilkinson, John Gardner, 1797-1875 · 1858 · London : J. Murray · 48 pictures

A Victorian design-reform treatise by the Egyptologist John Gardner Wilkinson, published by John Murray in London in 1858 to teach colour theory, ornament and geometrical garden layout to a general British readership. The woodcuts are spare outline drawings of vase and urn profiles, handles, feet and rims, plus ornament and garden plans, usable as silhouettes, contour templates and repeating border motifs.
