Giorgio Vasari's biographies of Italian painters, sculptors and architects, reprinted in Bologna in 1648 by the heirs of Evangelista Dozza for readers and collectors of art history. The 130 woodcuts are bust portraits in oval frames set into architectural cartouches with putti, garlands, brushes and mallets, each with a name panel below—usable as ready-made portrait frames, borders and label plates.
